An attorney for Rodney G. King on Wednesday entered not guilty pleas on his behalf to misdemeanor drunk driving charges filed against King after a minor traffic accident.

Attorney Milton Grimes entered the pleas to driving under the influence of alcohol and driving with a blood alcohol content of .08% or above. Each charge carries a maximum penalty of six months in jail and a $1,000 fine.

Trial was set for Nov. 15.

King, 28, was arrested after a Chevrolet Blazer he was in crashed into a wall near a downtown nightclub Aug. 21. Police said tests indicated that King had a blood-alcohol level of 0.19%, more than twice California’s legal drunk driving limit.

King, who was on parole for a robbery conviction, was ordered to enroll in an alcohol rehabilitation program for at least 60 days.

The accident was the latest in a series of brushes with the law for King since his videotaped March 3, 1991, beating by Los Angeles police officers.
