COUNTYWIDE : Salvation Army Will Award Volunteers
The Salvation Army will hold a dinner and awards ceremony tonight to honor outstanding community volunteers countywide.
The $25-a-plate dinner is designed “to salute those individuals and groups who have made a significant, positive impact on the community,” said Capt. Lee R. Lescano, Orange County coordinator.
“Volunteers do what they do because they know it’s right, not for the recognition or certainly not the pay,” he said.
However, he said, the ceremony offers a chance “to give them what they deserve in terms of recognition and thanks.”
The ceremony will be at the Santa Ana Community Youth Center, 1710 W. Edinger Ave., Santa Ana. A reception will begin at 6:30 p.m. and the dinner will start at 7:15 p.m., said spokeswoman Pam Abrahamsson.
