Felony charges were filed Wednesday in Pomona Municipal Court against a 20-year-old Santa Ana man sought as a suspect in a March 11 robbery that ended in the shooting of a Pomona police officer and a televised, three-county, high-speed chase.

Deputy Dist. Atty. Mark Arnold said Jose Valencia, arrested at his home Tuesday, was believed to have fled to Mexico after the robbery. He is accused of being one of three robbers and driving a car while another suspect fired at police officers. He was charged with eight felony counts, including attempted murder, robbery, assault with a firearm on a police officer and shooting at an occupied motor vehicle. He was held without bail pending arraignment, expected today.

Two other men have been sentenced for their roles in the robbery. They are Regino Deharo, 21, of Santa Ana, serving a 60-year prison term, and Jesus Garcia, 28, of Pomona, who was sentenced to 12 years.
