GLENDALE : Panel Backs Country Club Expansion
Glendale planning commissioners Monday approved an estimated $3-million expansion and remodeling project at Oakmont Country Club.
The plan calls for demolition of the existing snack bar and relocation of other facilities and equipment, according to a city report.
A 9,437-square-foot structure would then be built as an extension to the more than 35,000-square-foot clubhouse and snack bar.
After hearing from city staff and country club officials, the five-member commission voted to recommend the project for City Council approval on Oct. 26. Commissioners John W. Hilts and Robert McCormick abstained, saying they are club members.
No members of the public opposed the expansion plan, although 300 notices were mailed to residents living around the club and golf course, said Kimberly Christensen, a planning associate for the city.
Club officials also hope to expand the clubhouse’s foyer and lobby area, the dining room, grill, living room and lounge, ladies’ locker room and storage areas, according to a report submitted to the commissioners.
The remodeling would involve the men’s locker room, porch entrance and a new deck area behind the clubhouse.
