SPECIAL TO THE TIMES

Santa Ana dominated the first half and held on in the second for its first victory of the year Friday, defeating visiting Ocean View, 19-13.

It was the Seahawks’ 25th consecutive loss.

Santa Ana (1-5, 1-2) got another fine passing performance from quarterback Mark Fausto, who threw for 224 yards and a pair of touchdowns in addition to making a late, game-saving interception.

The Saints opened the scoring early in the second quarter on a one-yard run by Mike Soule. Fausto connected with Carlos Moreno on a 36-yard pass to set up the Saints at the Ocean View two, and Soule scored two plays later.

Fausto set up another touchdown late in the half. He got a bad snap out of the shotgun formation, bobbled the ball and dropped it, then picked it up and found Luis Godinez down the left sideline for a 60-yard gain and a first down at the Seahawk four. Fausto then hooked up with Carlos Rodriguez on a 4-yard scoring pass for a 13-0 halftime lead.

Trailing, 19-0, in the third quarter, Ocean View (0-6, 0-3) scored twice. A 28-yard punt return by Calvin Silva and the impressive running of Alfred Rhee allowed the Seahawks to pull within six, 19-13, with 4:28 left. Ocean View got the ball back twice in the last four minutes, but first-play interceptions from Fausto and Carlos Esparza put the game on ice.
