Japan’s Trade Surplus Continues to Swell: The high yen and continued demand for Japanese exports helped boost Japan’s trade surplus by 5.4% in September to $12.73 billion, the Finance Ministry announced. It was the 33rd consecutive month in which Japanese exports exceeded imports by a larger amount than a year earlier. Japan’s surplus with the United States rose 17% to $5.67 billion, the ministry said. The ministry said exports rose 6.0% to $33.52 billion while imports grew 6.4% to $20.79 billion.
