*** Digital Underground, “The Body-Hat Syndrome,” Tommy Boy. Although such songs as “Bran Nu Swetta” and “Do You Like It Dirty” contain the clowning we expect from the group that made prosthetic noses hip, this fourth release by the colorful San Francisco-based rap posse does feature some unexpected moments of sheer poignancy. The sweet, ‘70s-soul-inflected “Wussup Wit’ the Luv” is arguably rap’s deepest exploration of black-on-black racism.
