200 Arrested at Isla Vista Halloween Party
More than 100 law enforcement officers patrolled the streets of Isla Vista on Saturday, arresting about 200 people and citing another 200 for mostly alcohol offenses at the annual Halloween party in the small community near UC Santa Barbara.
The revelry attracted a smaller than usual crowd of students, and no serious incidents were reported, a spokesman for the Santa Barbara County Sheriff’s Department said.
“It was toned down considerably,” he said.
Two new county ordinances, one banning live bands and the other forbidding loud music, also were enforced.
Sheriff’s deputies, Highway Patrol officers and Santa Barbara police were called in to control the traditionally raucous gathering.
