LeRoy Butler’s quick hands and Green Bay’s harassing defense meant another rough day for Jim Harbaugh and the Chicago Bears.

The Packers sacked Harbaugh seven times Sunday, and Darrell Thompson ran 17 yards for a touchdown with 1:54 remaining to give Green Bay a 17-3 victory over the Bears.

It was the Packers’ third consecutive victory after starting the season 1-3.

Despite the rough treatment, Harbaugh tried to rally the Bears (3-4) early in the fourth quarter. Trailing, 10-3, the Bears moved from their 22-yard line to the Packers’ 12.

On the next play, the Packers blitzed, and Butler hit Harbaugh’s arm, forcing a fumble on third down that was kicked around and then recovered by Butler at the Packers’ 37.

“I didn’t want to play the hero and have them recover and kick a field goal, so I just fell on it,” Butler said. “We needed the ball back on that play, not just the sack.”

Green Bay then put together a 12-play drive that lasted more than six minutes, capped by Thompson’s touchdown run.

Harbaugh, sacked nine times last week by Minnesota, felt the pressure all day. Twice he was sacked by Reggie White, who moved past Lawrence Taylor on the all-time sack list (130 1/2-129 1/2).

“It means a lot,” White said. “My teammates in Philly had a lot to do with it and the guys here.”

The Bears have scored only 112 points in seven games, and have not scored a touchdown in the last 10 quarters.
