MRV Communications Profit Edges Up in Quarter

MRV Communications Inc., a Chatsworth maker of semiconductor products for the fiber-optic communications industry, reported a slight increase in its third-quarter profit on a 56% gain in revenue.

In the three months ended Sept. 30, MRV earned $173,000, compared to $168,000 in net income a year earlier. Revenue was $1.92 million, up from $1.23 million.

The company’s nine-month profit was $522,000, a 12% increase over $465,000 in the corresponding period in 1992. Its nine-month revenue rose 60%, to $5.03 million from $3.15 million.
