GLENDALE : Bail Reduced for Man Held in Weapons Case
One of two men facing weapons charges from a weekend arrest was granted a reduction in bail Friday from $1 million to $250,000 at Glendale Municipal Court, officials said.
Since his arrest late Saturday, Emil Dechebal Matasareanu, 27, of Altadena had been held on $1-million bail at Men’s Central Jail in Los Angeles.
Matasareanu and Larry Eugene Phillips Jr., 23, are charged with three felony counts each of conspiracy to commit robbery, grand theft auto and unlawful assault weapon activity, according to court records.
They were taken into custody after Glendale police pulled over a stolen 1993 Ford Thunderbird for speeding on the Ventura Freeway near Pacific Avenue. The two were inside with a cache of weapons, including over 1,000 rounds of ammunition and two loaded AK-47s.
