Foreign Investment Limit Raised: The government has doubled the maximum amount that each foreign institution can invest in the equity market to $200 million, the Securities and Exchange Commission said. The central bank has approved the reform, and foreign institutions will be allowed to apply to increase their investment soon, SEC and central bank spokespersons said. The SEC is awaiting final approval from the Cabinet to allow foreign institutions that have transferred funds out of Taiwan to bring them back within three months without applying for permission.
