Motorist Causes Power Outage
SAUGUS — A motorist crashed into a power pole in Saugus early Sunday morning, leaving 5,000 residents without power for about two hours, Los Angeles County sheriff’s deputies said.
The motorist, Luma Haddad, 19, of Saugus, lost control of her car near the intersection of Bouquet Canyon Road and Seco Canyon Road about 1:45 a.m., said Lt. Robert Elson.
Haddad was treated for minor injuries at Henry Mayo Newhall Hospital. She was not cited.
Officers closed the intersection of Bouquet Canyon and Seco while utility workers repaired the downed lines, Elson said. Two families on Alcon Drive were evacuated as a precaution.
Most of the residents had their power restored by about 3 a.m. The remaining 50 homes regained power later in the morning, Elson said.
