Alcohol Unwelcome on Ventura Pier
* With regard to the letter from Frank Salowitz of Oxnard relative to selling alcohol on the new Ventura Pier, I believe he is not clear on the issues involved.
The new pier is being touted as a family recreational area, not just a place where adults can go to play. If I take my grandsons there, I personally would prefer not seeing alcohol sold, much less used.
Additionally, our county government espouses, through alcohol and drug programs, a policy of “no use” with respect to alcohol and drugs. How can the city then run the pier as a public recreational area and go against that stated public policy?
