Panel to Entertain Requests for Funds
The Ventura County Transportation Commission will soon begin seeking applications from cities seeking state funding for bicycle and pedestrian projects.
Each year, the commission allocates about $300,000 in state sales tax revenue to pay half the cost of bike paths, sidewalks and similar projects.
Among the projects funded in 1993 were bike paths in Simi Valley and Fillmore, ramps for the handicapped in Thousand Oaks and Camarillo and a sidewalk in Oxnard.
Cities must submit their applications to the commission by March 7, and the funding is granted in June.
