Hits Magazine Rumor of the Week

Don’t look for anyone to replace Danny Goldberg when he vacates his post as head of Atlantic Records’s West Coast office to assume the Atlantic presidency in New York. Goldberg, who built Gold Mountain into an industry force with acts such as Nirvana and Bonnie Raitt, starts his new job Jan. 15. Initially, Goldberg and Atlantic Group Chairman Doug Morris searched for a replacement for Goldberg, who had strong talent acquisition skills. However, the need diminished after Atlantic inked an exclusive production deal with David Foster. It is about to sign a second deal with another highly-coveted East Coast alternative/rock producer.
