Record Heroin Cache Seized

NEW YORK — Police seized the largest single cache of pure heroin ever found in the city--five suitcases containing 425 pounds with a street value of $277 million, officials said Tuesday.
The cache is almost three times the previous single highest seizure in the infamous French Connection case from the 1960s, officials said. In 1989, 800 pounds of heroin was found in a raid on three New York City homes.
