Successful Volleyball Coach Beick Resigns Post at Thousand Oaks
Ron Beick, the girls’ volleyball coach at Thousand Oaks since 1986, has resigned because he plans to move out of California in July.
Beick, 37, led the Lancers to six Marmonte League titles in his seven seasons, and Thousand Oaks won the Southern Section Division 2-A championship in 1986 and 1987, his first two seasons.
His wife, Molly, coached the Lancers’ freshmen team. They plan to move to Oregon or Colorado.
“We have two little boys,” Beick said. “You start thinking about where you want to raise them.”
Beick, who coached at Venice and University highs before taking over the Lancers, had a 120-31 record at Thousand Oaks.
El Camino Real High’s Jessica Dinaberg made an oral commitment to play volleyball at California.
Dinaberg, the City Section 4-A co-player of the year last season, also considered Georgetown, Alabama, Cal State Northridge, Pepperdine, Rice, Washington State and Nevada.
“I was going nuts,” said Dinaberg, a 6-foot outside hitter. “Everything sounded good. It was the hardest decision of my life.”
