Julie Hardy, who didn’t show until the opening tip because she had been taking a final exam, scored 26 of her game-high 30 points in the second half to help Ventura College overcome an 18-point deficit and defeat host Victor Valley, 63-62, in a nonconference women’s basketball game Wednesday.

Hardy, a freshman from Buena High, entered the game after about five minutes had elapsed. She played only five minutes of the first half, scoring four points as the Pirates (9-4) fell behind. After her second-half scoring rallied Ventura, Hardy also blocked an attempt at the go-ahead basket with four seconds to play.
