Crespi High tailback Shaun Williams said he plans to sign a letter of intent to play college football at UCLA.

Williams, who ran for 1,809 yards and 23 touchdowns on his way to winning Del Rey League most valuable player honors, visited UCLA last weekend. Williams (6-foot-2, 185 pounds) had made a trip to Fresno State and he canceled visits to Arizona, Arizona State and Illinois.

“It was close to home and I really liked that,” Williams said of the Westwood campus. “All the players were really close. Even the coaches were close to the team.”

Williams, who also started at defensive back for the Celts, said UCLA coaches told him he will begin his Bruin career as a running back, but he could be moved to defense or even wide receiver.
