The Thousand Oaks High boys’ team is ranked third in Harrier magazine’s final national poll for 1993.

Led by senior Brandon Del Campo and junior Jeff Fischer, the Lancers capped an undefeated season with record-setting victories in the Division I races of the Southern Section and state championships last month.

Thousand Oaks set a course team time record--the cumulative time of its top five runners--of 77 minutes 56 seconds in winning the Southern Section meet at Mt. San Antonio College on Nov. 20.

A week later, Fischer, Del Campo and junior Kevin Marsden placed third, fourth and fifth in the state championships at Fresno’s Woodward Park to power the Lancers to a record low 23-point total and a team time record of 77:59 over the 5,000-meter course.

The Agoura girls’ team, which finished fifth in the state Division I championships, is not ranked among the top 25 teams for the first time since the national rankings were revived in 1989.

Agoura, the state Division I champion from 1990-92, was ranked second, first and second in the nation during those years.
