Friend Sought in Fatal Stabbing of Man
RESEDA — A 30-year-old man was killed and two others wounded when a friend of theirs allegedly stabbed them early Saturday morning at an apartment complex in Reseda, police said.
Jose Lopez, a Reseda day laborer, died Saturday at Northridge Hospital Medical Center after police found him lying in the parking lot of the complex in the 6600 block of Etiwanda Avenue about 12.30 a.m., according to Sgt. Dan Nastro of the Los Angeles Police Department.
Lopez was stabbed repeatedly in the chest during a quarrel that broke out while the four men were drinking together, Nastro said.
Jose Ojeda, 32, tried to stop the attack on Lopez, according to Nastro. He was stabbed in the face and chest, and fled to his home on Nestle Avenue, where his family called an ambulance.
Ojeda was listed in critical condition Saturday at Northridge Hospital Medical Center, Nastro said.
A third man, Jose Alcala, 31, also tried to intervene to save Lopez. He was treated at the Northridge hospital for a wound to the arm and released, Nastro said.
The suspect in the stabbings--a man in his early 20s known to police only as Moreno--fled the scene.
Moreno was described as a Latino, about 5 feet, 7 inches tall and weighing 170 pounds.
