Invesco Fund Manager Fired: Denver-based Invesco Funds Group said it terminated John Kaweske, the well-known co-manager of the firm’s Health Sciences and Industrial Income mutual funds, for failure to comply with Invesco’s rules regarding approval and reporting of personal stock trades. Fund managers are required by law to document personal investment moves, to avoid conflict with the funds they manage. Invesco said it had warned Kaweske in the past about failing to obey its internal rules and fired him Tuesday when he disclosed more infractions. But the firm said there was no indication that Kaweske, 53, had attempted to trade in any securities ahead of the funds he managed and that his trades “had absolutely no impact” on his funds. Kaweske’s lawyer, Andrew Levander, called Kaweske’s infractions technical and said Kaweske was stunned by the firing.
