Yard Tries Hand at Another Injury
NORTHRIDGE — Chris Yard is scheduled to have arthroscopic surgery on his right knee today, but even if the injury to his leg is not major, he probably will not be playing basketball for a while.
Yard, Cal State Northridge’s top rebounder, further jeopardized the final half of his senior season by breaking his right hand Wednesday night.
Coach Pete Cassidy said Thursday that Yard slipped on stairs and injured himself while trying to break his fall.
“When it rains it pours,” Cassidy lamented.
Yard, a 6-6 forward, is averaging 12.3 points and 5.9 rebounds per game.
He will stay behind when the Matadors leave on a two-game trip today. Northridge (3-12) plays Northeastern Illinois in Chicago on Saturday night and Notre Dame in South Bend, Ind., on Monday night.
