Driver Runs Over Man, 52, Lying on Road in Anaheim
ANAHEIM — A 52-year-old man was run over by a car early Saturday while lying in a major roadway, but police aren’t certain whether he was already dead at the time.
Authorities said they are unsure what the man was doing in the street or whether he may even have been struck by another vehicle before his body was discovered. An investigation is continuing, Anaheim Police Officer Dale Dambrun said.
The victim lived in Fullerton, but his name was not released pending notification of his family.
Matthew Emard, 17, who was driving a 1981 Chevrolet Malibu, called police just after midnight to report that he had struck someone on westbound Orangethorpe Avenue, west of Raymond Avenue, near the railroad tracks, police said.
Emard of Anaheim was not arrested, and Dambrun said he did not appear to have been at fault.
Anaheim police are asking anyone with information about the incident to call (714) 254-1532.
