Accord Reached on Home for Clinic
After months of negotiations, Ventura County officials say they have reached an agreement to purchase a building owned by Texaco for the new home of the west Ventura public health clinic.
County Public Works Director Arthur Goulet said Texaco will pay to remove asbestos ceiling tiles and clean up soil contamination from underground fuel tanks at the 133 W. Santa Clara St. site.
As a result, the supervisors will hold a final public hearing on the matter at 10 a.m. Tuesday in their meeting room at the County Government Center.
The Board of Supervisors agreed about two months ago to move forward with plans to purchase the building for $1.3 million, pending the agreement with Texaco. The building would serve as the new site for the West Ventura Family Care Clinic, now operating in cramped quarters at 110 N. Olive St.
