A Laguna Hills man and a Covina woman were arrested Sunday after an argument over a stripper’s tip ended in the fatal stabbing of a 17-year-old at a bachelor party, police said.

Brian Stinson and his girlfriend, Jennifer Biedrycki, both 20, were arrested at her relatives’ home hours after the stabbing at a house in West Covina, and were booked on suspicion of murder, police said.

The victim, who lived in West Covina, died at Queen of the Valley Hospital. Police were withholding release of his name until his family had been notified.

“There was adult entertainment at this bachelor party and someone put down a tip,” said West Covina police Lt. Darrell Myrick. “Someone either took the tip, touched it, or inadvertently moved it. The two (Stinson and the teen-ager) started fighting.”

The two were separated, but as the party was breaking up Sunday morning just after midnight, Stinson and the 17-year-old began fighting again, and the teen-ager was stabbed at least seven times in the arms, chest and shoulder, police said.

Myrick said he did not know the identities of the intended bride and groom. Friends of the bride had planned to go to a bar that evening, he said, but when some of them were turned away because they were underage, they went to the bachelor party and were there when the stabbing occurred.

West Covina police questioned about 40 guests before making the arrests, Myrick said. Biedrycki was somehow involved in the argument that led to the stabbing, he said.

The couple were arrested about 9 a.m. Sunday. Stinson “knew the police were waiting for him when he went” to Biedrycki’s relatives’ home, Myrick said. “He gave himself up without incident.” Both were in custody at the West Covina jail.

Less than 30 minutes after the stabbing, a 15-year-old youth was killed when a West Covina gang member fired three shots into a rival gang member’s car, Myrick said.

“All of last year we had just four murders and here, within a half-hour, we have two people dead,” he said. “It was a bad night.”
