Breast Implant Settlement: Dow Corning Corp. said it would join two other leading companies by agreeing to pay $2 billion over more than 30 years as its share of a proposed global settlement fund for women claiming injuries from silicone breast implants. Together with Bristol-Myers Squibb Co. and Baxter Healthcare Corp., the three companies have agreed to contribute more than $3.7 billion of a proposed settlement fund of $4.75 billion. Attorneys for women who have filed suit over the implants have been unable to reach agreement with several other defendants over their contributions to the fund. The agreements are subject to approval by a plaintiffs’ committee and the U.S. judge overseeing the case.
