Roller Hockey International Expands to 24
Roller Hockey International announced the addition of four new members, bringing the league to 24 teams, and unveiled its new alignment Tuesday.
The addition of New England, Buffalo, Sacramento and Arizona means the league will have 14 new franchises this season. In addition, last year’s Utah franchise has moved to Las Vegas.
The RHI draft will be Saturday beginning at 8 a.m. in Los Angeles. Each team has submitted a list of 15 protected players. The Anaheim Bullfrogs, defending league champion, will draft 24th and last in the first round. San Jose picks first.
How the league will look (asterisks denote new teams):
Pacific Division--Anaheim Bullfrogs, Los Angeles Blades, Las Vegas Flash (moved from Utah), Oakland Skates, San Diego Barracudas, San Jose Rhinos *.
Northwest Division--Arizona (Phoenix) *, Calgary Rad’z, Edmonton Sled Dogs *, Portland Rage, Sacramento *, Vancouver VooDoo.
Atlantic Division--Florida (Miami) Hammerheads, Montreal Roadrunners *, New Jersey Rockin Rollers *, Philadelphia*, Tampa Bay Tritons *, Buffalo *.
Central Division--Atlanta Fire Ants *, Chicago *, Minnesota (Minneapolis) *, Pittsburgh Phantoms *, St. Louis Vipers, New England (TBA) *.
