An Amtrak passenger train clipped a truck parked too close to the tracks at a railroad crossing on Balboa Boulevard in Van Nuys on Tuesday morning, a company spokesman said.

The truck was hit about 10:40 a.m. by the Coast Starlight, which runs between Los Angeles and Seattle, said an unidentified company spokesman in Philadelphia. No one was injured, he said.

The train was delayed 22 minutes at the scene, he said. Before the accident, it had left Los Angeles’ Union Station at 9:55 a.m., with one stop in Glendale.

“This happens between 15 and 20 times a year all around the nation,” he said.
