Three Titan Gymnasts on Big West Academic Team
The Cal State Fullerton gymnastics program placed three athletes on the Big West Conference’s All-Academic team, which was released Tuesday.
Christi Clifford, Kristi Mardyn and Karena Mills made the team. Mardyn, a sophomore biology major from Coquitlam, Canada, had the highest grade-point average of any team member (3.91) and the sixth-highest among all conference athletes.
Clifford, a sophomore kinesiology/health promotion major, had a GPA of 3.53; Mills, a senior majoring in biology, had a GPA of 3.53.
There were 77 conference athletes who maintained at least a 3.2 grade-point average, competed in at least 50% of their program’s competition and were sophomores or higher. This is the first time the Big West Conference has named an all-academic team.
