Coming off the success of his independently released single “The Most Beautiful Girl in the World,” Prince has tabbed Ice Cube to direct the video for a new song, “Love Sign,” which is apparently part of an upcoming album he’s working on for Warner Bros. Records. . . .

Martha Wash, who had a major falling out with C+C Music Factory’s over the singing credit for the 1990 hit “Gonna Make You Sweat” (her part was performed by a lip-syncing model in the video of the song), is working with the group again. C+C leaders David Cole and Robert Robert Clivilles have produced four tracks for Wash’s upcoming album, while she in turn sings on three tracks for the next C+C album. . . .

Rhino Records is planning the first-ever CD release of the entire Monkees catalogue, with nine CDs slated to come at a rate of three per month starting in September. Each will contain unreleased or rare “bonus” tracks. Rhino will also be putting out videos of the Monkees’ entire 58-episode TV series, as well as the band’s movie “Head” and its TV special “33 1/3 Revolutions Per Monkee.” . . .

While plans are being finalized for the Woodstock 25th anniversary show, some of the leading lights from San Francisco’s late-’60s scene will gather April 30 at the Maritime Hall there for a concert to raise money for medical costs incurred by Chet Helms, founder of the ‘60s concert promotion firm Family Dog. Among those scheduled to appear are former members of Moby Grape, Big Brother, Country Joe & the Fish and a special teaming of Steve Miller with former Creedence Clearwater Revival members Stu Cook and Doug Clifford. . . .

Steve Wynn, whose new, acoustic-flavored “Fluorescent” album was just released by Mute, is already planning his next album, a sharp stylistic contrast to be recorded with hard-edged Boston band Come. Incidentally, the Dream Syndicate founder--a lifetime Angeleno--is packing up and moving to New York. . . .

No record label has been found yet to release the final album by Harry Nilsson, which was nearly completed at the time of the singer’s death from a heart attack in January. His manager, David Spiro, says the collection needs a little work before it’s ready for release. Veteran musician-producer Al Kooper is working on a Nilsson tribute album, with Marshall Crenshaw and Aimee Mann having recorded tracks so far. A two-CD anthology of Nilsson’s RCA years is now scheduled for July. . . .

Garth Brooks returns the favor for Victoria Shaw--who wrote his hit “The River”--by doing a guest vocal turn on her debut album, due in July. Shaw has also written hits for Doug Stone (“Too Busy Being in Love”) and John Michael Montgomery (“I Love the Way You Love Me”).
