GIRLS
Dolores Tuimoloau
SCHOOL: Channel Islands
SPORT: Track and field
YEAR: Senior
SEASON AT A GLANCE: Tuimoloau won the shot put at 45 feet 6 inches in Rio Mesa High’s Spartan Relays and set a region record of 46-11 1/2 in the Ventura Relays. She threw the discus a Ventura County record 145-0 in the Santa Barbara Easter Relays two weeks later. Her only loss of the season in the shot came in the Arcadia Invitational but she had a region record and state-leading throw of 47-0 1/4 Saturday at the Mt. San Antonio College Relays.
WEEK AT A GLANCE: Although she avenged her Arcadia loss to Gina Heads of Newport Harbor at Mt. SAC, Tuimoloau said that wasn’t a priority. “Gina and I have been going against each other since we were freshmen, so (losing to her) wasn’t that big a deal,” Tuimoloau said. “But I wanted to throw 50 feet. It’s a little disappointing not to, but at the same time I (set a personal best), so I can’t be too upset.”
