Trice Lands With the Jets

Robert Trice, Cal State Northridge’s most valuable player, left for the New York Jets rookie training camp Thursday after signing a free-agent contract with the team.
Trice, a tailback, rushed for 1,362 yards in 235 carries last season.
He finished his two-year career at Northridge with 1,840 yards rushing.
Softball
Thursday’s Simi Valley-Camarillo Marmonte League softball game was postponed because Camarillo was unable to obtain a bus to get to the playing field in Simi Valley.
The game has been tentatively rescheduled for Wednesday, May 4, at Santa Susana Park in Simi Valley at 3 p.m.
Baseball
Grant High second baseman Aaron Amitin has signed a letter of intent to play at Penn. Amitin, a first-team All-East Valley League selection last season, is batting .378 this season.
Basketball
Ron Quarterman has been hired as a walk-on boys’ basketball coach at Bell-Jeff. The 40-year-old has coached the Santa Monica junior varsity team and the American Roundball Corp. all-star team.
Ventura College men’s Coach Philip Mathews is conducting tryouts for a summer basketball league May 7-8 at the school’s gym.
