Car Crash Into Pole Kills 1, Injures 4
TUSTIN — An Anaheim woman who was returning home from the El Toro Air Show crashed into a telephone pole Sunday, killing herself and injuring four others, police said.
The woman, identified by police as Mary Jorgensen, 29, died after her car crashed into a telephone pole southbound on Jamboree Road near the intersection with Pioneer Road, said Tustin Police Sgt. Jim Peery.
Peery said the accident occurred about 6 p.m. Sunday as Jorgensen was driving her Hyundai around 80 m.p.h. in a 50 m.p.h. zone. She apparently lost control of the vehicle, Peery said.
“The car sheared off the telephone pole and the car was wrapped around it,” Peery said.
Two of Jorgensen’s young children and another child were injured in the wreck. Their identities were not released. Peery said they were hospitalized in fair condition.
Jorgensen’s friend, Carlos Bradshaw, suffered a broken leg and other injuries in the crash. He was taken to Western Medical Center-Santa Ana where he was hospitalized in serious condition.
Police said it is unclear why Jorgensen was exceeding the speed limit and the investigation into the crash is continuing.
