NATION IN BRIEF : NEW YORK : U.S. Links Blast, Kahane Murder
Federal prosecutors revealed details for the first time of an alleged international conspiracy that links three of the men convicted in the World Trade Center blast to the murder of radical Rabbi Meir Kahane. The government released previously confidential information in a 100-page document ahead of the trial in New York of radical Islamic Sheik Omar Abdul Rahman and a group of others charged with conspiring to wage a war of urban terrorism against the United States through bombings and assassinations. The papers, which provide a preview of the government’s case, include excerpts from tapes in which Abdul Rahman was told of and advocated Islamic paramilitary camps in the United States. The trial is scheduled for September.
