Safeguard Health Enterprises Inc.: The firm said its first-quarter earnings increased 13.3% compared with a year earlier, to $1.06 million, or 22 cents per share. Revenue was $16.9 million for the quarter ended March 31, compared with $15.4 million in the year-earlier quarter. The Anaheim-based company provides dental and vision care programs and life insurance for more than 689,000 members. More than 69,000 new members were added to Safeguard during the first quarter of 1994, the company said.
