Community Policing
* After reading “In South-Central, Concerns Rise on Community Policing” (June 13), I’m confused.
Having been a block captain for over a year, I find no political or “control” problems. The community-based policing concept showed its immeasurable value during the earthquake of Jan. 17, as neighbors pitched in to help other neighbors. The concept I have of community-based policing is neighbor to neighbor, with guidance from various city officials and groups and individuals.
I regret that a few dissidents in South-Central will cause disruption and suspicion of the program, which offers hope and options to all who participate.
