William A. Henry III; Pulitzer-Winning Drama Critic

William A. Henry III, 44, Pulitzer Prize-winning drama critic for Time magazine. Henry, who joined the newsmagazine in 1981, a year after he won the coveted prize in 1980 for his television criticism for the Boston Globe. As a Globe reporter, he also contributed to the reporting and writing that won the public service Pulitzer for the Globe in 1975. He also worked briefly as a critic and columnist for the New York Daily News and wrote several books, including a biography of Jackie Gleason. His final book, “In Defense of Elitism,” is scheduled for publication in September. A native of South Orange, N.J., Henry was educated at Yale where he was executive editor of both the student newspaper and the yearbook. On Tuesday in London of a heart attack.
