McDonald’s Record Deal Confirmed: EMI Records Group North America confirmed reports that it will sell special music packages through the McDonald’s fast-food chain beginning this fall. EMI said five or six 10-song compilations will be sold, each available in either CD or cassette format. Artists to be included in the promotion include Garth Brooks, Tina Turner and Roxette. The move is controversial in recording circles because some music retailers fearing it will hurt their sales. Prices have not been set, but EMI said a percentage of the proceeds will be donated to Ronald McDonald Children’s Charities.
