Bay Area Rapid Transit District train operators and station agents rejected the rail system’s latest contract offer Sunday night, just hours before a strike deadline.

The Amalgamated Transit Union Local 1555 voted against the pact, 338 to 12, according to union spokeswoman Colleen McCarthy. The vote followed one earlier in the week that saw the 71-mile rail line’s clerks and maintenance workers vote down the proposal.

The strike was scheduled to start at 12:01 a.m. today.
