Pollution Research Corp. Profits Down by 96%
Pollution Research and Control Corp., a Glendale maker of air pollution measurement instruments, saw its profits plunge 96% to $11,000 in the second quarter ended June 30.
A year earlier, the company earned $274,000. Its sales in the recent quarter totaled $1.45 million, down 3% from $1.49 million in sales in the second quarter of 1993.
Pollution Research’s first-half profit fell 91% from a year before, to $54,000 from $577,000. Its sales for the six months declined 12%, to $2.74 million from $3.11 million.
The company said that its first-half shipments were affected by the January earthquake. It has also continued to suffer from an industrywide downturn, which has forced it to cut prices.
