COSTA MESA : Library Book Sale Planned for Saturday
Voracious readers looking for a good buy can head to the Costa Mesa library, where thousands of books will be sold Saturday for as little as a quarter and as much as a dollar.
The sale will be from 9 a.m. to 3 p.m.
Novels of authors such as Stephen King and Danielle Steele will be hawked, along with classics and special collections, which will fetch for a bit more.
Most of the books have been donated by local residents, but some of the editions are discards--paperbacks and hardcovers that were on their way out anyway, said Edie Lott, a senior library clerk.
“It’s mostly donations that people have given us throughout the year,” she said. “Books, magazines, paperbacks, reference materials, encyclopedias.”
Friends of Costa Mesa Libraries, the sponsors, organize four book sales annually, two of which take place at the Mesa Verde branch. An estimated 5,000 books will be on sale.
“We always get a large group of people,” Lott said. “It gets crazy, but it’s a good way to meet your neighbors.”
The Costa Mesa library is at 1855 Park Ave., between 18th and 19th streets, west of Newport Boulevard on the west side of Park Avenue.
