LOCAL NOTES : Marquis Sweeps Junior Diving
Kristen Marquis of the Mission Viejo Nadadores won the platform competition at the Speedo National Junior Olympic championship Sunday in Rockville, Md.
The victory completed a sweep for Marquis, who won the one- meter springboard Friday and the three-meter springboard Saturday.
Erica Sorgi, also of the Nadadores, was second in all three competitions. The pair will compete in the Canadian-American-Mexican championships Aug. 19-21 in Mexico City.

The Tustin Bobby Sox softball team playing in the national tournament for 10- and 11-year-olds remained undefeated with an 8-3 victory over host Sparks, Nev.
Sarah Boardman had a two-run double as Tustin scored four runs in the first inning. Sparks scored three runs in the sixth to cut the lead to 5-3, but Tustin scored three more runs in the top of the seventh.
Tustin is one of three undefeated teams in the 24-team tournament, which ends Tuesday.
