SIMI VALLEY : Mikels Endorsed by D.A., Sheriff
Ventura County’s top law enforcement officers have endorsed Simi Valley Councilwoman Judy Mikels for county supervisor.
Dist. Atty. Michael D. Bradbury, Sheriff Larry Carpenter and representatives of the Deputy Sheriff’s Assn. formally announced their endorsements of Mikels’ candidacy at a news conference Tuesday at the County Government Center.
Mikels is running against Moorpark City Councilman Scott Montgomery for the seat being vacated by Supervisor Vicky Howard. The 4th District supervisorial seat represents Simi Valley, Moorpark and the Santa Rosa Valley.
“Judy Mikels has substantial experience in government and business, is well known for her strong support of law enforcement and, most importantly, is a person of integrity,” Bradbury said of his decision to back Mikels. “When she makes a commitment to the people of this county, we can rest assured she will keep it.”
Mikels welcomed the support, which she said will provide a big boost to her campaign.
“They don’t give their endorsement lightly,” Mikels said, “and I don’t take it lightly.”
