BRENTWOOD : Traffic Control OKd on Simpson’s Street

The Los Angeles City Council has given police the authority to close off the streets surrounding O. J. Simpson’s North Rockingham Avenue estate to discourage gawkers and tour buses.

The council also considered a plan to give residents along Rockingham and three adjacent streets city-issued parking stickers to prohibit visitors from parking there. The preferential parking will be adopted only if two-thirds of the residents sign a petition supporting it.

Councilman Marvin Braude said the extraordinary move Tuesday was made because of the overwhelming public interest in the Simpson case.
