TWA Reaches Accord With Pilots: The airline and the pilots union tentatively agreed to modify work rules and enhance “participative management” to save up to $35 million a year. The agreement, which covers Trans World Airline’s 2,700 pilots and is subject to ratification, was reached after 25 days of negotiations. Talks with the flight attendants union are continuing. TWA’s machinists have already approved work rule changes expected to save $80 million annually.
