Guilty Plea in Fraud Case: Anthony Fadel, co-owner of Fadel Group Investment, admitted in federal court in Los Angeles that he and two partners were involved in a scheme that defrauded some 4,000 Spanish-speaking investors out of $10 million. Fadel Group claimed clients would earn a 22% return through real estate investments, according to federal prosecutors. But most of the money was kept by the partners for personal use, said Fadel, who pleaded guilty to mail fraud, tax evasion and making false statements on loan applications. He will be sentenced Nov. 11. In June, Fadel partner Jose Castellanos pleaded guilty in the same case. Business manager Epigmenio Sandoval remains a fugitive.
