WESTLAKE VILLAGE : Fair to Feature Shows, Artwork
Visual and performing artists from around the world will be featured this weekend during the first Westlake Village Fine Arts Faire.
The two-day event will be held outdoors at the Hyatt Westlake Plaza on Westlake Boulevard from 10 a.m. to 5 p.m., with musical performances continuing Saturday from 8 p.m. to midnight.
The fair will be one of seven art festivals throughout Southern California aimed at advancing the visual and performing arts, event organizers said.
“We serve certain areas and locations that seem to be receptive to fine, original art,” said Dennis Dolan, president of Spectacular Moments, the nonprofit organization organizing the art show.
Similar events are held each year in Carlsbad and Newport Beach, Dolan said.
The weekend display will include paintings, sculptures, photography, glassware, pottery and other crafts. Musical groups from South America, China, Mexico, England and the Caribbean will perform, along with a Los Angeles-based chamber orchestra.
The Conejo Players and Grupo Folclorico Mixteca will provide theatrical entertainment and dancing.
On Saturday and Sunday, arts and crafts selections will be given away in silent drawings, and visitors are encouraged to cast ballots for their favorite artists as part of an art competition. An awards ceremony will take place at 5 p.m. Sunday.
