Williams scored his second touchdown on a 78-yard run with 3:27 left in the half. He also scored on a one-yard burst with 8:39 left in the third quarter.

The Vikings started out shakily, receiving 100 yards in first-half penalties. But they sacked Damien’s Scott Hicks three times and recovered two fumbles to frustrated the Monarchs.

Damien played without 10 players who had suspended for a breach of school discipline. Among the suspended players were three 1993 Interscholastic League of Honolulu all-stars, including 6-foot-0, 260-pound defensive tackle Inoke Breckterfield, 6-1, 235-pound offensive lineman Max Mahoney and running back Inoa Rodenhurst.

Two other Damien players involved in what the school called a “serious breach of discipline” were expelled.
